Calculus 3 Lesson 37: Tangential & Normal Components of Acceleration

Apr 04, 2025

Hi there! Today I have released Lesson 37 of my Calculus 3 series. In this lesson we learn about the tangential and normal components of acceleration!

In particular you will learn:

  1. The difference between tangential and normal acceleration (what are they?!)
  2. The formulas for calculating the tangential and normal components of acceleration
  3. How to find each component when given a position vector (practice problem!)

I hope you find this new lesson of Calculus 3 to be helpful! There is just one more lesson in this unit on vector functions before it is completed.

After that, I will be moving on to the next unit on multivariable functions, which I know has been highly anticipated. We're almost there!

Until next time,

- Josh
