Trigonometric Integrals - Calculus 2
Sep 22, 2022A common type of integral that you will encounter in calculus is a trigonometric integral containing multiple trig functions. When these integrals are of a certain form, either containing both sin(x) and cos(x), or tan(x) and sec(x), there are techniques that can be used to make them possible to solve.
These techniques include splitting up the trig functions when they are raised to higher powers, and rewriting some trig functions using specific trig identities, such as pythagorean identities or half-angle identities. Knowing when to use each of these techniques comes with practice, but we go over the basics of what you need to know in this lesson of Calculus 2!
In this lesson, you will learn:
- The important trigonometric identities to know in order to manipulate and solve trigonometric integrals
- How to manipulate and solve trigonometric integrals that contain sin(x) and cos(x) raised to a power.
- How to manipulate and solve trigonometric integrals that contain tan(x) and sec(x) raised to a power.
I hope you find this video to be helpful!
